About

I solve digital challenges for a living.

For more than 15 years I have been building software, shipping digital products and bridging the gap between technology and business for German mid-sized companies, in a wide range of positions and roles. Along the way I have also had the opportunity to build successful software engineering organisations.

With a degree in business informatics, my focus today is on software development projects, particularly those involving connected devices (“IoT”). I work as a consultant, engineer and leader.

In these roles I help companies make existing projects successful and get new projects off the ground.

Services

As a consultant and software engineer I specialise in frontend and backend solutions: web frontends, apps for iOS, Android and macOS, and cloud and backend services. Many years of experience and a deep understanding of the common technologies and programming languages allow me to deliver demanding projects reliably, from the first idea through to operation.

In addition, I assess and analyse existing software solutions with a view to optimising a company's portfolio. My management experience helps me find the right altitude to communicate the situation clearly to executives, business units and engineering teams alike.

Own Projects

Alongside client work I have also been able to realise projects of my own. The following products are representative examples.

  • LibreCam

    RAW camera app for iOS

    LibreCam is an iOS camera that captures exactly what the sensor sees: true Bayer RAW as DNG, with automatic image processing switched off entirely, meaning no Smart HDR, no Deep Fusion, no noise reduction. Built with SwiftUI and AVFoundation and localised into 34 languages, it combines manual controls for shutter, ISO, focus and white balance with deterministic, user-editable colour recipes rendered live via Metal.

  • Annotate

    Image and screenshot annotation app for iOS and Android

    Annotate is a powerful image editing and screenshot app for iPhone, iPad and Android. With 17 tools, layers, automatic detection of sensitive content for redaction, and support for Apple Pencil and Shortcuts, screenshots and photos can be edited quickly and professionally. The app is made for everyone who regularly creates screenshots for support, documentation or social media.

  • Dropshare

    File sharing app for macOS and iOS

    Dropshare is one of the most comprehensive file sharing apps for macOS and iOS, available since 2014 and updated continuously. With more than 25 integrations for popular storage providers, the app makes it possible to share files of any kind with confidence. Dropshare Cloud adds its own secure cloud storage. Thousands of customers have relied on Dropshare for years.

  • Shortshare

    Handy URL shortener utility

    Thanks to support for 11 different URL shortening services, or a custom API connection, Shortshare offers a flexible way to create short URLs on macOS, iOS and Windows, including straight from the browser, for marketing purposes and more. Apple featured Shortshare as a “Standout App with Safari Extension”.
